The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) is set to give suggestions to the Union Ministry of Finance before the government rolls out GST (Goods and Services Tax). Offering insights into this, Zakkir Ahmed, President, TAFI, said, “Since the GST will be affecting the travel agent business, we will put forth case studies of countries where the GST regime is in practice, before the Finance Ministry. Most importantly, we want agents to have complete clarity from day one, rather than being ambiguous about finer details in the long run.”
Additionally, Ahmed shared that TAFI is in deliberation with the World Travel Agents Association Alliance (WTAAA) on National Distribution Capability (NDC). “TAFI is in support of NDC and WTAAA is working in tandem with the IATA (International Air Transport Association) on NDC, globally.” TAFI is a member of WTAAA.
