NEW DELHI: The Congress alleged that the RSS has “red-flagged” the Good and Services Tax Bill which is the real-reason for non-passage of key reform legislation in Parliament.
With four days remaining for the Parliament session to begin, the main opposition party said the government has not approached it for resolving issues concerning the key reform legislation.
“The government might be blaming the opposition, especially Congress over the non-passage of the bill, but the fact is RSS has red flagged GST,” party spokesman Randeep Surjewala said.
However, he did not elaborated on it.
The GST Bill, which seeks to replace a slew of central and state levies with a uniform rate, was passed by Lok Sabha in May and is pending ratification by Rajya Sabha, where the ruling dispansation lacks numbers.
Elaborating on Congress demand for changes in the GST Bill, Surjewala said the government has not taken any initiative to resolve the deadlock over the bill.
