Patna college to start GST course

PATNA: Vanijya Mahavidyalay, a constituent unit of Patna University (PU), is likely to get the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation soon. The college uploaded its institutional information for quality assessment (IIQA) to NAAC’s online portal and deposited the requisite fee of Rs 29,500 on Thursday.

College principal B N Pandey said the college is venturing to get itself accreditated by NAAC for the first time at the earliest (hopefully, by the end of the current year). The college has already started making necessary preparations for improving its academic standards and revamping its existing infrastructure, he said.

“Since the college is all for attaining high grade from NAAC, two add-on courses on yoga and GST would be started for undergraduate commerce students soon. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are being organized at regular interval. The self-study report (SSR) is likely to be submitted to NAAC soon,” Pandey added.

Meanwhile, the PU has already directed all its constituent colleges to get them accreditated by NAAC as soon as possible. Several colleges, including Patna Science College, B N College, Patna College and Magadh Mahila College are gearing themselves up for accreditation. While Patna Science College, B N College and Magadh Mahila College had got themselves accreditated earlier and would be seeking their accreditation in the second and third cycles respectively, others would have their accreditation by NAAC for the first time.

PU itself has been preparing to upload its SSR to NAAC’s website within a couple of months, said sources. PU pro-VC Dolly Sinha is personally supervising the preparations for NAAC accreditation.
