‘He did a commendable job as ECSFM Chairman’

Srinagar, April 22: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was all praise for his predecessor, Abdul Rahim Rather in the Governing Body of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers (ECSFM).
The Governing Body of the Empowered Committee of state Finance Ministers held on March 20, which was chaired by Jaitley, said, Rather had done a commendable job as the Chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers.
Jaitley proposed that a resolution should be passed by the Governing Body and conveyed to Rather.
Later the Governing Body passed the resolution: “The Governing Body of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers places on record its sincerest thanks and deep appreciation to Abdul Rahim Rather, the former Chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers for his commendable devotion and contribution as the Chairman, Empowered Committee. His skills and tireless efforts in achieving consensus with regard to various contentious GST issues have been instrumental in bringing Government of India and states close to the objective of moving to the GST regime by April 1, 2016.”
The resolution was signed by Satish Chandra, the former Secretary to Government of India, and present Member Secretary.
