‘CS’ will have to think beyond Company Law to reach top’


Seniors give tips novice CS’ about entrepreneur skill

Indore : Senior company secretaries have called upon budding CSs to think beyond Company Law to reach top. They said the rookies can play an important role in building software for GST and CSR.

They were addressing the inaugural session of two-day annual regional conference of Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here at Sayaji Hotel on Saturday.

Over 300 CS across the country are participating in the conference. The city chapter of ICSI is hosting the mega event. The theme of conference is ‘Company secretary-as an entrepreneur’.

Chairman of WIRC CS Kamlesh Joshi said in his key-note address that Company Secretaries can play a vital role in start-ups. They not only act as employees but also play the role of Job creators through entrepreneurship. Gone are the days when the CSs were constrained to employment and conventional practice.

Co-program director and treasurer ICSI-WIRC Hitesh Kothari said: “We should take a step towards entrepreneurship. We are not only a company consultant, moreover a professional. If we want to excel ourselves up to chief financial officer (CFO) of a company then we will have to think beyond company law. We can develop our own field and area, so start thinking about other assignments and get it done with the best efforts.

Prakash Pandya, vice chairman WIRC, said: “We talk about Start Up India, so lots of opportunities are up for grab. CS Rishikesh Vyas, Immediate Chairman & Chairman PDC Mumbai, ICSI-WIRC said that CSs can play a vital role in GST.CSs should think that how they can develop a software for GST. They can build CSR model. Regulators are watching our skill to deliver results, thus risk thing should be in our attitude and expand our wisdom to take new emerging challenges. Earlier, Conference Director & Regional Council Member of WIRC of ICSI CS Ashish Karodia briefed about the Conference.

 Experts talk

In the technical sessions three experts throw light on technical and legal aspects of the profession. supreme court advocate Madhukar Dalvi spoke on criminal Jurisprudence & business, CS Rupanjana De regional council member Eastern India Regional Council on how to grow business, CS Ashish Goyal business development officer National Stock Exchange on a strategic partner for stock exchange listing.
