NEW DELHI: The empowered committee of state finance ministers on Goods and Services Tax (GST) will give its written reply to the select committee of the Rajya Sabha on June 8.
“We have to give the written opinion on June 8. GST is a means to transform India into a common market,” KM Mani, Kerala finance minister and chairman of the empowered committee, said addressing a conference on GST organised by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
The committee will make its final presentation to the select panel on June 16, he said. ICAI president Manoj Fadnis said the GST will integrate state economies and boost overall growth. The constitutional amendment bill for rolling out of GST was referred to a select committee of the Rajya Sabha.
The Lok Sabha has already cleared the bill.
